The Queen has outlined the Government’s priorities for the coming Parliamentary year, a number of which will have an impact on employment.

A former bus driver has been awarded over £16,000 in compensation after successfully claiming unfair dismissal at an employment tribunal, reports The Courier.

Employment tribunal changes came into effect on Friday 6th April that the Government claims will make it easier for businesses to take on staff, and improve the process when staff have to be let go.

An Employment Tribunal in Glasgow has awarded over £1.15 million in compensation to 104 workers who were dismissed last year at Dunfermline based Simclar International.

The CBI has commented on the Government’s proposals to reform the tribunals system, which includes the introduction of fees.
